Opis
The Old Town Market Square Mermaid is a sculpture by Konstanty Hegel, cast in zinc in 1855. It depicts an armed fish-woman with a shield and sword — the coat of arms of Warsaw.
The monument survived World War II in hiding and returned to the Square after the city's reconstruction. A fountain, active during the summer season, surrounds the sculpture.
