Opis
The Little Insurrectionist Monument on Podwale Street commemorates the children and youth who fought in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, primarily serving as couriers and medics.
The sculpture was created by Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz; he produced the first version as a small statuette as early as 1946. The unveiling of the full-sized monument took place on October 1, 1983.
The boy wearing an oversized helmet and cape, holding a submachine gun, has become one of the symbols of the Uprising.
