Opis
The Old Town Market Square (Rynek Starego Miasta) was laid out in the 13th century alongside the founding of Warsaw. The four sides of the square are named after Warsaw mayors: Dekert, Zakrzewski, Kołłątaj, and Barss.
The monument of the Warsaw Mermaid, dating from 1855, stands in the center of the square. The tenement houses surrounding the square were rebuilt after total destruction in 1944 and were inscribed on the UNESCO list in 1980.
